Looking for a Harvest alternative? An honest guide for freelancers (2026)

Harvest is a genuinely good product — its invoicing has been best-in-class for years. What changed is the pricing. Here's what actually happened, who should stay anyway, and when a simpler tool like Timeabit fits better.

What changed at Harvest

Harvest was acquired by Bending Spoons in July 2025. Since then its pricing moved from a flat per-seat fee to per-seat plus usage-based fees — additional invoices, projects, clients and tasks are billed based on what you use (see Harvest's pricing page). Multiple independent 2026 write-ups document users reporting steep jumps at renewal. The free plan remains limited to 1 seat and 2 projects.

None of that makes the product worse at tracking time or sending invoices. It changes predictability — for a solo freelancer, the bill now depends on how many clients, projects and invoices you touch.

Stay with Harvest if…

…you run a team, need timesheet approvals, collect payments through your invoices, or depend on its integrations. Nothing in Timeabit replaces those today, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.

Switch to Timeabit if…

…you're a solo freelancer who wants predictable costs, tracking that's free forever, invoicing without usage meters, and an app that actively catches the hours you forgot to record. Your data is local-first and syncs only to your own account — no renewal surprise can ever hold your hours hostage.
